This Privacy Policy describes how PathCAN Academy Ltd. ("PathCAN", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with our website, platform, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). PathCAN Academy Ltd. is a Canada-based company and handles personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian provincial privacy law.
By using our Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
PathCAN has designated a Privacy Officer who is responsible for overseeing our compliance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy law. Questions, access requests, and complaints may be directed to the Privacy Officer at:
Email: privacy@pathcanacademy.com
We will respond to your request within 30 days. If we need additional time, we will tell you why and when you can expect a response.
We collect personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and only the information we need to provide our Services.
When you create an account, contact us, apply to become a partner, register for events, or use our Services, you may provide: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, country of residence, education history, and (for partner applications) information about your business or qualifications. If you choose to pay for a service on PathCAN, our payment processor (Stripe) collects payment card information directly. PathCAN does not store full payment card numbers on its own servers.
When you use our Services, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information such as IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and the time and date of your visit. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Services.
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how the Services work.
We use personal information for the following purposes:
To create and manage your account, enable you to browse schools and programs, connect you with CICC-licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and with our settlement and education partners, and process payments for services you book on PathCAN.
To send you service-related messages (security alerts, booking confirmations, partner replies) and, where you have opted in, marketing communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
To understand how the Services are used, fix problems, and develop new features. We use aggregated or de-identified information wherever reasonably possible.
To comply with applicable Canadian and foreign laws, including tax, anti-money-laundering, and record-keeping requirements, and to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
We do not sell personal information. We share personal information only as described below:
We share personal information with vendors that help us operate the Services, including cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, email delivery, and payment processing (Stripe). These vendors are contractually required to protect your information and to use it only to provide services to us.
If you book a service with a PathCAN partner, or request to be connected with an RCIC, we share the information needed to fulfil your request with that partner. PathCAN does not set prices for immigration or visa services — those are provided by independent RCICs. Any advice you receive is from the licensed RCIC, not from PathCAN.
We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid request by a public authority, including to meet national security, law enforcement, or regulatory requirements.
If PathCAN is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
PathCAN is based in Canada. Some of our service providers (including our cloud hosting and payment-processing vendors) may store or process personal information outside of Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. When personal information is transferred outside of Canada, we use contractual or other safeguards designed to provide a comparable level of protection to PIPEDA. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed in jurisdictions other than your province or country of residence.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), role-based access controls, and employee training. No system is completely secure — if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, and as required by law. Account information is kept while your account is active. Booking, payment, and tax records are kept for at least seven (7) years as required by Canadian tax and bookkeeping rules. Marketing contact data is kept until you unsubscribe. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
Withdraw your consent to our processing of your information and request that we delete it, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations.
Receive a copy of your personal information in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
Object to processing of your personal information, and lodge a complaint with our Privacy Officer or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).
Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice (for example, by email or a banner on our website).
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact our Privacy Officer:
